But today is different.

Today we talk about hope.

Because if trafficking has taught us anything, it is this:

Darkness is powerful.

But hope is stronger.

Traffickers want survivors to believe that their story is over.

That freedom is impossible.

That healing is impossible.

That trust is impossible.

That joy is impossible.

They are wrong.

At Rahab’s Daughters, we have seen miracles disguised as ordinary moments.

A woman opening her first bank account in her own name.

A mother being reunited with her children.

A survivor walking across a graduation stage.

A young woman receiving the keys to her own apartment.

Someone sleeping peacefully for the first time in years.

Someone laughing again.

Someone daring to dream again.

Those moments may never make headlines.

But they are victories worth celebrating.

Meet Grace

The following story is a composite based on the experiences of trafficking survivors.

When Grace arrived at Rahab’s Daughters, she owned everything she had in a single bag.

She didn’t trust anyone.

She rarely spoke.

She apologised for everything.

When people asked about her future, she simply said:

“I don’t have one.”

But healing is a remarkable thing.

Slowly she began attending counselling.

She joined support groups.

She returned to education.

She learned life skills.

She discovered strengths she never knew she possessed.

Years later, she stood in front of a room full of people and shared her story.

Not as a victim.

Not even as a survivor.

As a leader.

And perhaps most importantly:

Ordinary people can make an extraordinary difference.

The World Cup may be ending.

Our work is not.

Tomorrow there will still be children online needing protection.

There will still be vulnerable workers needing advocates.

There will still be survivors needing safe housing, counselling, education, and community.

There will still be traffickers trying to profit from human suffering.

And there will still be organisations like Rahab’s Daughters standing in the gap.
